The Shrinking Violet Society is Spokane's dynamic social co-op of fresh-minded individuals sustaining creative endeavors.

"A Saucy Social Co-Op!"

We are dedicated to: Promoting Localism, Building Intentional Friendships, Affirming Sass & Independence, Nurturing Artistic Abundance, and Circulating Our Passion

About Us

Since 2008, The Violets have been meeting for brunch on the second Saturday of every month. All are welcome to join us for a rousing toast to keeping our resistance strong at Boots, everyone's favorite vegan and gluten free bakery! Event details are available on Facebook.

Looking for a 21+ meetup? Fem+Drinks feminist happy hour meets on the 4th Thursday of every month, typically at The Observatory in downtown Spokane. Event details are available on Facebook.

Come celebrate and give each other courage and strength to make it through the upcoming months with a little love and talk about policy changes, our current administration and to just hang out. No purchase necessary, but if you do wish to purchase something you get the super awesome Violets discount at Boots Bakery.

People of all genders welcome and this is a kid friendly venue.

Join the V-Team

As a volunteer-organized community, our Volunteer Violets make the magic happen.

Are you our next V-Team volunteer?

We need Violets who can:

  • Publish the Ladies Who Lunch Facebook event

  • Send a email reminders

  • Attend monthly brunch

  • Initiate introductions

  • Circulate a sign-in sheet

  • Publish the monthly Violet Bites e-newsletter.

Who might be good for this?

  • Friendly and dedicated humans, wanting to reconnect with their community.

  • Anyone who can use Facebook. Instagram and Twitter -  yours skills are in demand!

  • Someone who is comfortable collecting community news and writing the monthly Violet Bites newsletter in Mail Chimp.

  • Skills (or desire to learn) in marketing, PR, communications, journalism, social media or community organizing will be very helpful.

In return for helping to keep our monthly friends brunch well attended and exciting, you’ll get to know some of Spokane’s finest citizens and will enjoy the personal satisfaction of helping to create life long friendships that change lives. This is an easy and deeply meaningful way to contribute to the quality of life for hundreds of friendly and creative people in our community.

We’ll provide you with personal training should you be willing to take on this important role. If you aren't available to perform these duties every month that is OK, we will help you put together a team of folks who can sub-in as needed.

If you are interested in joining the V-Team, send an email with a short description of yourself and your contact information to:

We will be in touch to get you going from there. Thanks for helping to keep our legacy of friendly local ladies available to the Violets of the future!
